Endometriosis is the development of cells that looks like the ones that take shape in the uterus. It is located at the exterior area of the uterus. Endometrial cells are responsible for the menstruation of women. In this regard, does endometriosis affect libido?
The embedded endometriosis is usually located in the ovaries, fallopian tubes, exterior part of the uterus, intestines, and on the exterior coating of the pelvic opening. There are times that it can also be located in the vagina, cervix, and bladder. It can also unusually occur at the outer surface of the pelvis, liver, previous surgery marks, or in brain or lung. Causes of endometriosis
The real source of this condition is still unidentified. However, there is a speculation that a retrograde menstruation can be one of its causes. An additional probability to the cause of endometriosis is that some parts covering the pelvic organs develop primal cells that possibly develop into tissues like the endometrial cells. The transmission of endometrial cells through the bloodstream or lymphatic system is also a cause.
Symptoms of endometriosis
Some females who are affected by the condition may not experience any symptoms at all. For those who feel signs of endometriosis, the following may be experienced:
- Pelvic pain and inability to bear a child. The pelvic pain is usually felt throughout or prior to menstruation and commonly reduces after the monthly period.
- Discomfort. Some females feel pain during sexual contact, bowel movements and even when urinating. The intensity of the pain felt will alter from time to time and it varies from one individual to another.
- Other symptoms. Lower abdominal pain, loose bowel movement or constipation, low back ache, abnormal menstrual flow, and blood found in the urine are manifestations of endometriosis. Unusual signs include chest pain, presence of blood when coughing, headache or tremors.
